Why do I need International Health Insurance?

International medical cover includes Hospital In-patient, General Medical, Dental, Optical well as Pregnancy and Childbirth covers. Subject to the limits selected and the policy limits.

What is the difference between International Health Insurance and Travel Insurance?

A.

Travel insurance is designed for those holidaying and provides protections against events such as loss of luggage and flight cancellations. Medical treatment is provided although is limited to emergency situation aimed at getting you well enough to get back home to Australia.

International Health Insurance is comprehensive cover for Medical treatment expenses for those living in another country. It covers the costs of treatment to get you well to continue your time abroad.

How much will it cost?

The premium is dependent on the risk to the insurer; therefore it is determined by the country you are in, occupation, medical history, age and claims history. Premiums usual start at approximately $1,500.

How long does the policy last?

All polices are annual and last for 12 months or until cancelled.

Can I get cover for only a few months?

A.

No, you can only take out an annual policy and cancel it when no longer required.

Will my family be covered?

Yes, you can chose to include full cover for your family, this is optional.

What if I’m injured or sick and cannot work?

We can offer polices that provide cover should you suffer an Injury or Illness that prevents you from being able to work, whether it be work related or outside of working hours, you will be able to claim an income benefit for the time you are unable to work for a maximum period of 2 years.

Do I have medical cover when I return to Australia for a visit?

A.

Australians who are living overseas may be entitled to use Medicare on trips back to Australia for up to 5 years after initially leaving the country dependent on their tax status. After 5 years, expats may not be entitled to free medical treatment while visiting Australia, therefore we can obtain quotes for your Medical cover in these circumstances.
